Happy 8th Birthday Cora!!!

Well I did it-with the help of my two wonderful sisters and nephews- I threw a sleepover for Cora's birthday. We had 6 girls total and it was a lot of fun. I had written down an agenda and this is what we did. The girls began arriving around 4 pm. As they arrived they put their stuff downstairs and then hung out. When everyone was had arrived we began to tye-dye t-shirts. I had them decorate their shirts with fabric pens and permenant markers. They were able to munch on chips and giggled while they worked. Then, they had to rubber band their shirts to make the patterns on it. Then came the tye-dying....can I say holy smokes. You have every warning imaginable and I still think that the dye is going to run out when they get washed--oh well. My sisters had to run to the store last minute because I didn't have enough dye. But we finally got it under control and got the shirts into the barrels of hot water.

This lovely picture of me is when the tye-dying is done you have to rinse them out. All I can say is brrrrrrrr. The water and the wind were freezing but I did it.

Then, the girls played a bit outside. Can I say how much I love my backyard.....I LOVE IT!!!! It was a bit cold and so they didn't stay out too long.

For dinner the girls and Keegan made minitature pizzas. They got to squish the dough, biscuits, and pour on pizza sauce and top them anyway they liked them. I did learn that the kids squished the dough so much onto their plates that when it was time to move them onto the cookie sheet they just fell apart. Sooooo, memo to myself, use pie tins next time.

Next, we sang happy birthday to Cora. She had wanted me to make a cake for her with flowers on it. So, I did. It turned out ok bbut I was able to make it a double layer--amazing I know.

After cake we opened presents. Cora got a holy ton of presents and Cameron helped me pick up trash while Bri took notes and Amber took pics. BY the way Bri was helping take care of Kenzie the whole time---that's why she isn't in any of the pics.

The next thing we did was the girls went upstairs and changed into they pjs. I had written on the invite that the girls should bring a pair of pjs for a fashion show. I layed out some extra things like crowns, hats, jackets, etc. for the girls to help spruce up their pjs. We played some music, I mc'd(I think that is how you spell it), and my sisters and Keegan judged. The girls loved it. Then they got to dance around while the judges prepared the awards. Keegan then helped pass out the awards to each of the girls. Of course everyone got one. Then it was time for movies. I had prepared snack baskets and also was going to serve popcorn but decided on skipping the popcorn. Cora had chosen Fairytopia. They watched that and only one fell asleep and the others were not ready to go to bed yet and were eating like maniacs. Sooooo Bri and I decided to start taking away snacks and had the girls brush their teeth and lay down for the second movie--which by the way all the sites on how to do a sleepover said that the kids fell asleep during the first movie--liars. :) Cora chose "Fivel goes West". The girls finally calmed down and fell asleep after the second movie was over. Bri and I went to bed too.

What is funny is I don't have any pictures of the following morning activities--I guess I was just too tired. I woke up and hid the scavenger hunt clues for their goodie bags and began making french toast and bacon-request from Cora. Bri helped take care of Kenzie. The girls got up around 7. They ate breakfast and went on the scavenger hunt and then played hide and seek until parents came at 9. I believe everyone had a blast but I will definitely wait till I do this again. Thanks sisters!!!!

Heather, I miss you! Sounds like you've been busy but doing good. Are you liking it in Idaho? Are you surviving with three? Life is crazy here too. Cora and Alexa look so grown up. Tell them Madi and Andrew say hi and tell Ken we say hello.
