Happy 6th Birthday Alexa!

On Alexa's real birthday we made her favorite dinner, breakfast with Minnie Mouse pancakes, sausage, and eggs. For desert she had her favorite, donuts.

Then came her birthday party---Alexa's Magical Kingdom. As you all know I love themes---it just makes it easier for me to wrap my head around what to do plus the girls get to help pick the games, cake, and decorations. So, Alexa wanted a dragon party complete with the girls being princesses and the boys being knights. Of course this year we had to invite boys because Wyatt had to come---her new best friend. What is it with my girls having guys as friends-they take way too much after me. Anyway, that is where I came up with the magical kingdom idea. Alexa wanted Daddy to dress up like a dragon steal all the princesses and then the knights would come and attack the dragon and free the princesses. From there it gets even better---I needed to have our house look like a castle so, I pulled Ken in and made him put together a castle entrance. Hopefully, you can see what he did.

As soon as the kids arrived--on bus from school---they began decorating crowns and shields. Of course there was one girl that wanted a shield instead of a crown.

Next, we played pin the fire on the dragon. The kids wrote their names on the fire--thanks Vince--- and then were blindfolded and spun to put the fire as close as they could to the mouth.

The kids then had to come and sit down for a story that told of a magical kingdom that was protected by knights and princesses. Each year they had to go on a dragon egg hunt and collect all the dragon eggs before they hatched. If an egg did hatch then they would have to eat the magical bean inside the eggs to be able to fight the dragon that hatched. They loved searching for all the eggs and of course one egg did hatch. So from there they all ate a magical bean, grabbed a sword, made from water noodles, and went outside to attack the dragon, poor Ken.

We came afterwards and the kids sang happy birthday to Alexa, ate cake, and then opened presents. There is a story behind why we have two cakes. Alexa, a couple of weeks before her party, gets a call from Wyatt. She gets done with her phone call and tells me that boys are really weird. I ask why and she says that Wyatt was saying something about a cake but she didn't understand. We let it go but then the day before her birthday she gets another call from Wyatt. When she gets off she tells me that Wyatt is coming over with her birthday cake. Wyatt and his mom show up with this beautiful cake of a purple pillow with a tiarra made out of sugar sitting on top. Boy, do I feel lame--Alexa's cake was not nearly going to be as good as that. She then tells me that her friend is a professional wedding cake designer and she was practicing to expand into birthday cakes at a convention. She had this cake and didn't want to throw it away and so gave it to Wyatt's mom. She came home with it and was talking about how she didn't know anyone that could use this cake and Wyatt proudly exclaims "Mom, Alexa's birthday---duh!" So that is how we came to ahve that cake. Of course we needed to have a boy cake so Ken made the shield. Alexa colored the cheetah that went on the shield because that is her favorite animal.

For the last activity I hid all the goodie bags and they had to go and find one. The rule was that as soon as they found one for themselves they had to help their friends find one. So, here is Alexa helping Maddie.

Of course Cameron, Mozart, and Digger had to join in.

All in all I think everyone had a wonderful time. Until next year---We love you Alexa!!
Oh--special thanks to Bri, Vince, and Amber for coming and helping make things run smoothly. Mom and Dad we missed you!
