We are so proud

As many of you know our Cora loves to do things with her hands. It could be art, dancing-very expressively, or science. Well Burton Elementary holds an annual Science Fair each year. When Cora heard about this she just wouldn't stop asking to participate. She had received a crystal growing kit for her birthday. So, it was decided to learn why crystals grow.

She loved mixing the chemicals and, of course, wearing the safety goggles was the best part. She choose to grow two types of crystals--frosty diamond(a woman after my own heart) and golden citrine. It took a couple of days and so we took pictures and wrote down observations while we waited.

Here was the end result. I think we might have not dissolved the crystals enough for the golden citrine but it turned out pretty cool anyway. The frosty diamon turned out great.

The Science Fair was last Wednesday. Cora was so excited to show off her project. She recieved an award and T-shirt for participating. We needed to arrive around 10 minutes early to set up and then Cora got to rotate first while others stayed at their stations to explain their projects. Then in half an hour they switched and Cora explained hers. The parents amd friends went around too and filled out comment cards and gave them to the young scientists. It was fun! Afterwards we went to my house and had cake to celebrate.

We are soo proud of Cora!
